About Us

All About Equine Animal Rescue (AAE) is a 100 percent volunteer-based, charitable, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit equine rescue and rehabilitation organization located in El Dorado Hills, California.  Our tax ID number is 27-0384523.

AAE’s mission is to rescue and rehabilitate horses that fall victim to inhumane circumstances, most notably, horses that are abused, neglected, or slaughter-bound and find them forever homes.

AAE was founded in 2009 as a result of the down economy and growing number of distressed and auction-bound horses.  Too many horses are being transported across US borders and commercially slaughtered each year, and many more inhumanely die each year from neglect, abandonment, abuse, or improper care. Most of our horses are rescued from a slaughterhouse-owned feedlot before they are transported for slaughter in Canada or Mexico.

We want to make a difference. With your support, we can make a change. Your contribution means the difference between life and death, one horse at a time.

“By saving the life of one horse, we may not be changing the world, but we are changing the world for that one horse.” Author unknown.

OUR FACILITY

Our main facility is located in El Dorado Hills, California on the Digiorno family ranchette, a 14.3 acre property with a 7-stall barn, a hay/storage barn, paddock areas, and a large pasture area with a seasonal creek. In addition to the horses, there are resident goats, sheep, and chickens, as well as dogs (Bouvier Des Flandres) and cats. KOBE, Westminster Best of Breed Winner, patrols the property.
