Nevaeh is a grade late-teen to twenty-ish mare that came to AAE through law enforcement in late-2024 after she was abandoned on someone's property. She was seized as a stray, and AAE was asked to help. When Nevaeh arrived, she was thin and needed basic care (i.e., dental and hoof care, vaccines, and deworming). We didn't get any training history since she came through law enforcement as an abandoned horse.
Shortly after arrival, Nevaeh saw the farrier and had dental care and vaccines, and she got a microchip. Once she had gained some weight, we began exploring her training.
This beautiful mare is uncomplicated. She's sweet, she enjoys attention, she's easy to handle (i.e., halter, lead, grooming, hooves, & trailering). She transitioned into a pasture herd without issue. We did some brief saddle work, and she's wasn't a fan, initially. Later, Nevaeh's first ride was a great surprise! Not only was she very calm and quiet, she was responsive and confident. She's a little bit rusty, but all in all, she did very well. She walked over a tarp confidently, and she moved through her ride willingly. She seems to have very nice foundation to build from. Her biggest issue at this point is handling her hind feet. She's not horrible, but she can be a little impatient, occasionally.
She was started on a daily equioxx that seems to have worked wonders for her. She's much more active in the pasture and more relaxed/comfortable in general.
Nevaeh is a very sweet mare, and is looking an experienced person to adopt her. She will make a very nice companion and light riding partner.
Nevaeh has been such a wonderful girl during her stay with us. She is looking good and feeling even better! Now, her only wish is for a person and home of her own. She is current with hoof and dental care, vaccines, and deworming, and she has a microchip.
In general, there is a lot of activity around AAE including vehicle and foot traffic in and out of paddock/pasture areas, mucking with wheelbarrows, grooming and care activities, tractor and trailering, weekly farrier visits. There are resident dogs, cats, goats, a pig, cows, and mini horses, as well as various wildlife including frequent turkeys, squirrels, rabbits, deer, coyote, and bobcats in and around paddock/pasture areas. A portion of AAE is situated along a highway with high speed vehicles, trucks, and sirens. Tractors are used in and around pasture/paddock areas, trucks deliver feed, and a squeeze is occasionally used for unloading hay. Horses at AAE are accustomed to a more active environment as opposed to a quiet/sterile environment. Some do well; others will do better in a more quiet environment.
