Story: Romeo and two of his buddies arrived from the Nevada feedlot on September 30, 2009. After a tough roundup by their rancher, Romeo and his buddies were orphaned at the feedlot when they were stripped from their moms who were shipped to slaughter. Romeo is from a Doc Bar sire and Thoroughbred dam.

Trainer Notes:  Gentled to halter and touch, Romeo is beautiful and easy to catch and willingly follows his handler.  He is learning to give all four feet and all the basic groundwork exercises including backing, yielding the forequarter & hindquarter, head down cue, circle game, etc.  He is a positive cuddly colt that is ready for his permanent home!

Health: Romeo was pretty banged up during round-up, and he’s healing several cuts and scrapes, including a nasty wound on his front leg above his knee. The area was quite swollen; however, he hasn’t shown any signs of lameness or infection. As of early December, the wound has healed, and  the swelling has reduced, but not entirely.  This wound area is being monitored by a veterinarian. and thus far, it does not appear to affect Romeo’s mobility or stability in any way.

Issues: None, young colt still green but making steady progress.

Adoption Fee: TBD upon further monitoring and evaluation of the swelling in his front leg. May be available after 2/1/10. Will be vet checked, gelded, and current on vaccines, worming, dental and hoof care.
