Story: Jazzy and her filly, Star, arrived from a Nevada feedlot on January 2, 2010. Jazzy was extremely emaciated and malnourished, and covered with wounds.

Trainer Notes: Jazzy was unhandled when she arrived, but very kind and curioius.  She’s learned to trust. ]She has a kind soul, a solid mind, and she wants to please.  When exposed to new things, she still startles a bit, but isn’t overreactive.
Jazzy turn came up for training, and she was making great progress.  She was developing her ground skills summer 2011.  As we were preparing to pull her up from pasture to start her under saddle, she turned us lame. Radiographs showed a fracture in her pastern (P2 bone).  Her vet has recommended surgery to fuse the joint to minimize pain and prevent arthritic changes that will render her lame as she ages since the fracture in the joint area will cause arthritic changes.  The surgeon is of the opinion that with surgery and immobilization of the fractured area, the bone should heal with minimal changes, and she is very likely to be sound and very unlikely to have residual changes that will cause her lameness in the future.  Without surgery, because of the location of the fracture,  she is very likely to endure bone/joint changes that will lead to significant arthritic issues and lameness as she ages.
Please donate to Jazzy’s Fund so we can proceed with the surgery she needs.  Visit Jazzy’s Fund for a special offer to her donors.

Health: Good, other than fractured P2 in front right.

Issues: None.

Adoption Fee: $TBD after surgery
