Story:Willow and her filly, Jewel, arrived from a Nevada feedlot on May 28, 2011. Mom and filly were in surprisingly decent condition, except Mom’s hooves and teeth showed extended neglect. Her toes were very long with sizable cracks and flares. Her teeth were in poor condition, as clumps of partially chewed hay fell from her mouth. Jewel is an elegant, athletic and sporty looking foal with an amazing personality. Shortly after arrival, an enormous abscess was discovered in her front right hoof. And later, we also discovered there is Willow + 1. Willow is expected to foal in March 2012, so her adoption will likely need to be postponed until after foaling. Trainer Notes: Willow was untouchable when she arrived; however, this big, beautiful mare has made significant strides. She is a calm, level-headed mare. She’s very willing, and as a result, she’s learning basic groundwork fast. She’ll make a fantastic project horse for someone wanting to start a horse from the ground up, but we’ll continue her work as long as she’s here.
