Story: Honey and her colt, Sunny, arrived from a Nevada feedlot on August 26, 2009. She was emaciated and extremely fearful of people.

Trainer Notes: Honey’s early training consisted primarily of trust building and basic groundwork. Honey was very raw, untrusting and fearful of people. Although still slow to trust, she has come a long way. She is a very pretty, solid, and willing mare. Honey tries hard to please. She is food motivated, and more willing every day. She has learned to work in the round pen, and she was recently started under saddle by her foster.  She’s progressing quite rapidly!

During the end months of 2010, Honey was the project horse for Brooke, one of our high school trainng apprentices through the Oak Ridge HS InterAct program.  Brooke worked patiently, but diligently in building a trusting relationship with Honey and exposing her to various things such as ropes, tarps, winter blankets, and other day to day things to desensitize her.  She moved her groundwork forward and Honey

Honey also completed 30 days training (groundwork) at Monty Roberts International Learning Center in July 2010.
