Project/Untrained Horses
Fallon (aka "Baby")
Sex: Mare
DOB: 2009
Height: ~14.3
Color: Seal Bay
Breed: Appy-X
Adoption Fee: $450
Fallon and her dam Zuni were feedlot rescues from 2009. Fallon was adopted out a short time after rescue. She was later returned in April 2013, however, through no fault of her own but due to the unfortunate personal circumstances of her adopters. She is a four-year-old appaloosa cross who is trained in groundwork and ready to be started under saddle. She has the typical Appaloosa markings on her muzzle and around her eyes. We are hoping to quickly find a new loving home for her, as she is used to living with a family and receiving daily attention. See more pictures here or visit her Facebook album.

Willow
Sex: Mare
DOB: 2001 (est 6 y/o or younger)
Height: ~15.1 est
Color: Red Roan
Breed: QHx
Adoption Fee: $550
Willow and her filly, Jewel, arrived from a NV feedlot in May 2011. Willow's hooves and teeth showed extended neglect. Her toes were very long with sizable cracks and flares, and she had an enormous abscess in one hoof. As is often the case with the feedlot rescues, Willow was pregnant when she arrived and foaled in May 2012. Both fillies have been adopted but Willow is still waiting for her forever home. While she had lost trust for humans when she first arrived, Willow has made significant strides over the past year. She displays a calm, level-headed personality when given time to adjust to new situations. Big bodied with lovely floating movement, she is looking for an experienced horse owner who will give her the training and confidence she needs to become their next dream riding partner. More photos here or visit her Facebook album.

Kansas
Sex: Mare
DOB: 2006 (est)
Height: ~14.2
Color/Breed: Silver Bay/QH-x (est)
Adoption Fee: $450
Kansas also came to AAE as result of the November Rescue Miracle (Mare #33) . She surprised us all by giving birth first of all the rescue mares. She foaled on April 2nd to an adorable colt we named Hutchinson, aka Hutch (in honor of a famous tornado that visited the state of Kansas!). Kansas has been a wonderful and attentive mom. She displays a wise and confident personality and tends to be a more dominant mare in the herd. Her long, flaxen mane and unusual chocolate coat are striking. She soon will be started under halter, and we anticipate that she will progress quickly to ground training with her smart and calm nature. Kansas will require an advanced handler with training experience. See more photos here or visit her Facebook album.

Lily
Sex: Mare
DOB: 2008 (est)
Height: ~14.2
Color/Breed: Sorrel/QH
Adoption fee: $450
Lily also was one of the 2011 November Rescue Miracle horses rescued from a Nevada feedlot. Upon rescue, the horses were all placed at a temporary boarding facility, but they still needed homes with permanent adopters. While many were adopted, others were still there as of the beginning of the year. AAE took in several pregnant mares and one colt, including the lovely Lily. Initially fearful and unhandled, Lily is curious and expected to come around quickly as she receives handling. Lily will require an advanced handler with training experience. Kona
Sex: Mare
DOB: 2007 (est)
Height: ~15.0
Color/Breed: Bay/QH
Adoption fee: $450
Kona is one of the November Rescue Miracle mares. Kona, along with three other pregnant mares who had not been adopted into permanent home after their initial rescue, were taken in by AAE in late March 2012. Kona appears to be in good health and is estimated to be about five years old. Despite the upheaval and changes in her life during the past year, Kona has a gentle demeanor and a curious eye. She is sweet and will come around quickly with consistent handling. She will make a nice project horse for someone wanting to train their own mount and develop that special lifetime relationship that comes from the love and gratitude of a rescued horse. See more photos here or visit her Facebook album.

This is a very nice looking mare, bay tobiano with a lovely face, great conformation and lots of flash. Chichi was a PMU mare. Chichi will require an advanced handler with training experience. Hopi

DOB: 2006 (est)
Height: ~14.2
Color/Breed: White/Gray/Appy-x
Adoption Fee: $450
Hopi is another of the November Rescue Miracle mares (Mare #11). She arrived in late March with a yearling colt, Turner, at her side. Both were very fearful of humans at first, but Hopi began to soften fairly quickly. With her mottled muzzle, she appears to be an appaloosa cross. She arrived with a skin condition around her eyes, and as soon as we can get her in a halter, we will have it evaluated. This poor girl could really use a sponsor to ensure she gets whatever treatment will be necessary, as well as special attention and handling from sponsor visits. Hopi will require an advanced handler with training experience. See more photos here or visit her Facebook album.

Ruby
Sex: Mare
DOB: 1992 (est)
Height: ~15.0
Color/Breed: Blue Roan/QH
Adoption fee: $450
Ruby and her colt, Gem, arrived from a NV feedlot on May 28, 2011. Ruby was very thin and in poor condition, as she was depleting herself to feed Gem. Her teeth in particular were in poor condition, with clumps of partially chewed hay falling from her mouth. With care and attention, Ruby has regained her health. While she was untouchable when she arrived, Ruby has learned to trust and can perform basic groundwork skills. With her calm, gentle temperament, Ruby would be a nice project horse for and advanced handler with training experience or simply a sweet companion horse to groom and love on. See more photos here or visit her Facebook album.

Breed: Seal Bay/Appy-x Pony
Adoption Fee: $450
Zia is an adorable little appaloosa pony. Her mother, Zuni, was a feedlot rescue in June 2009. Zuni came in with a 3-4 week old filly, Fallon, and we discovered later she was also in foal with Zia. Calypso (Callie)
Sex: Mare
DOB: 2008 (est 6 y/o or younger)
Height: ~13.0
Color/Breed: Black/Paso Fino (or PFx)
Adoption Fee: $450
AAE took in this pretty Paso Fino (or PFx) mare in early November 2012 from a nearby county animal control department that needed to place some of the animals in its care. Due to the circumstances, little is known about them. Callie is sweet, but a bit timid/shy; however, she's becoming more and more interested in attention and grooming. She is black with two socks on her front legs. She's respectful under halter, but avoids being caught. She's a quick learner, maybe having some training as a youngster, with no follow up. She's young, likely 3-5 years old (we'll know better after he dental, soon), and she stands about 13hh. Click here for more photos of Callie or visit her Facebook page.
