Skeeter's Story

Skeeter came to AAE from a local law enforcement agency at the beginning of 2026. Skeeter was a stray, and he was not claimed at the shelter, so he came to AAE. When we met Skeeter, he was a bit on the nervous side, but cute and friendly. He loaded well into the trailer and traveled well.

Skeeter was in good condition when he arrived. He'll soon have dental and hoof care, vaccines, and deworming, and he'll get a microchip.
Skeeter is a fairly mild-mannered guy with a super cute personality. So far, he's not difficult to handle, but he's not very confident and startles at the slightest of noises, movements, etc.  Stay tuned while we get to know this sweet boy better.

Skeeter will available as soon as he's current with dental and hoof care, vaccines and deworming, and he has a microchip in place.

In general, there is a lot of activity around AAE including vehicle and foot traffic in and out of paddock/pasture areas, mucking with wheelbarrows, grooming and care activities, tractor and trailering, weekly farrier visits.  There are resident dogs, cats, goats, cows, and mini horses, mini donkeys, and a mini mule, as well as various wildlife including frequent turkeys, squirrels, rabbits, deer, coyote, and bobcats in and around paddock/pasture areas.  A portion of AAE is situated along a highway with high speed vehicles, trucks, and sirens.  Tractors are used in and around pasture/paddock areas, trucks deliver feed, and a squeeze is occasionally used for unloading hay.  Horses at AAE are accustomed to a more active environment as opposed to a quiet/sterile environment. Some do well; others will do better in a more quiet environment.​
