Georgia's Story

Georgia originally came to AAE in May 2020 after her family lost their house in a fire, shortly before life was further complicated due to COVID-19.  Prior to coming to AAE, Georgia was placed in a lesson program, but working with different riders didn't work too well for Georgia.  Georgia returned to AAE in June 2023 when her adopter was unable to manage her separation anxiety. Once she arrived at AAE, her first couple days in quarantine were stressful, and she paced the fencelines. She settled in and made a stellar transition at AAE.

During Georgia's initial stay at AAE, she leads, ties, trailers, and was used as a riding horse.  She enjoys grooming and attention.  She was impatient with the farrier, but manageable.  She can be pushy on the ground and under saddle. Georgia has a very basic knowledge under saddle and could use more education. She does not know how to move off the leg, and is only direct rein pull educated.  We have not seen any major behavioral issues, but she's not suitable for a child or beginner.  Georgia will be best suited for a confident, intermediate person. She can be a little looky, and we have only ridden her in the arena. We have not had her out on trail. Likewise, we have not turned Georgia out with other horses in a herd environment, but she gets along over the fence with mild mannered horses; she can be testy over the fence with more dominant horses.

Georgia is current with hoof and dental care, vaccines and deworming, and she has a microchip.

In general, there is a log of activity around AAE including traffic in and out of paddock/pasture areas mucking with wheelbarrows, grooming and care activities,
weekly farrier visits.  There are resident dogs, cats, goats, a pig, cows, and mini horses, as well as various wildlife including frequent turkeys, squirrels, rabbits, deer, bobcats, and coyotes in and around paddock/pasture areas.  AAE is situated on the corner of a busy road with high speed vehicles, trucks, and sirens.  Tractors are used in and around pasture/paddock areas, trucks deliver feed, and a squeeze is occasionally used for unloading hay.  Horses at AAE are accustomed to a more active environment as opposed to a quiet/sterile environment.  Some do well, others will do better in a more quiet environment.
