Always's  Story

Always is one of a trio (Always, Rustic, and Scotty) that came in to AAE in January 2019.  Her owners were downsizing and relocating out of state due to family health issues.

According to prior owners, Always was originally trained as a hunter/jumper, then later used for both English and Western riding, and eventually on trails.  She is a branded Oldenberg, but her registration has been lost over the years.
Always is a very nice girl, very easy-going and mild mannered.  She enjoys grooming and attention, and so far, she's "always" willing to do what's asked. She is good with handling her hooves and for the farrier, and is currently barefoot.  She is consistent and kind on the ground.

We have lightly restarted Always under saddle. After having several years off she is proving to be a delight to ride. She appears to have previously had a good education under saddle. She knows some lateral work such as leg yield and shoulder in, and while she is very out of shape, the little bit of walk, trot, and canter we have seen far has been pleasantly forward and quiet. She could possibly work as a light arena or trail horse. She needs a lot of conditioning to bring her fitness back, and may require some maintenance as she ages to continue to keep her sound in work. She appears sound with the handful of rides we have on her but with any aged horse, we do not know what kind of work load she will be able to handle as she starts to be ridden consistently.

Always' dental care, hoof care, vaccines, and deworming have been updated, and she has a microchip in place.
