Employment

EMPLOYMENT

All About Equine Animal Rescue (AAE) began as an all-volunteer organization. With gratitude to an incredibly passionate and robust volunteer team, AAE thrived for a good 10 years with volunteers at its helm.  When COVID-19 happened, we were forced to reduce our volunteer staffing out of concern for everyone's health and safety.  Though animal care is an essential activity, a large percentage of our volunteer force is of retirement age and in the higher risk population.  As a result, we hired a full-time staff and a few part-time staff to help carry out our day to day operations.  We're still not operating at the full volunteer capacity that AAE enjoyed prior to COVID, so staff brings consistency to our day to day activities. AAE growth also requires the need for more regular and consistent participation to maintain steady operations and continued organizational growth and development.

If you're interested in employment with AAE, please submit a resume and cover letter to jobs@allaboutequine.org describing the position you're interested in and compensation requirements.  If we don't have a position available now, we'll keep your resume on file for future needs.

Ranch Hands
If you like caring for horses, AAE runs two shifts at the barn each day, one from 8 am to noon-ish, and another from 3 pm to 7 pm-ish.  We have several one full-time and several part-time positions that work with our volunteers during am and pm shifts to provide basic care for our horses.  Activities include feeding, mucking, medicating and treating horses, facility projects, general cleanup, and other special projects around the barn, as needed.  Individuals must have well-rounded experience with horses, must be able to work in extreme weather conditions (e.g. summer heat, winter cold, rain, sleet, snow), and must be able to safely lift/move heavy loads (e.g. hay bales 100#+). Please NOTE:  There is no riding, exercising, or horse handling with these positions, other than basic care needs.
Store Sales
AAE operates a used tack store in Shingle Springs.  Sales generated through the store support AAE operations.  Our volunteer workforce at the store has made huge strides and the store provides tremendous support for AAE operating on part-time hours.  The store can operate full-time hours and offer online sales with the help of a full-time staff and/or two or three part-time staff.   Hours include weekend shifts for full-time position, and at least one weekend shift for part=time.  Must be able to lift heavy loads (5o-75# or more).
Fundraising Coordinator
AAE operations are supported by primarily by donations, fundraising activities, our annual Boots & Bling event, grants, and fee-based programs, as well as proceeds from AAE's Used Tack Store.
Fundraising is an ongoing need at AAE, and AAE is considering adding a full-time fundraising coordinator or a couple part-time fundraising coordinators to help coordinate fundraising activities and events in the community.  Under consideration will be individuals with experience coordinating fundraising activities and events from top to bottom.
Grant Research and Writing
Grants provide an important level of support for AAE.  AAE has been served by a volunteer grants writing team since founding.  However, as AAE has grown and acquired new property in Pilot Hill, AAE's grants needs are outgrowing our volunteer team.  If you are an experienced grant writer, AAE is considering adding PT or FT grant writers to our team. If interested, please submit your resume and cover letter to grants@allaboutequine.org.
