Bentley's Story

AAE recently welcomed six (geldings) from the Hallelujah Horses herd.  The Hallelujah Horses are a group of 907 horses seized from the International Society for the Protection of Mustangs and Burros (ISPMB) formerly located in South Dakota) in late 2016.

Bentley did not appear to have any substantial handling upon arrival at AAE.  His hooves were in poor condition (very long toes), and his gentling was a priority to get him some relief with his hooves.  He learns quickly, and he's very stoic, but hesitant to trust.  He was trimmed with sedation, and did amazingly well.  He tries hard, and does well in hand, but once halter is off, he resists new approach.  Handling hooves is a work in progress without sedation, but each try brings a bit more confidence.  He is getting better every day, but progress is in baby steps.

These handsome geldings came together from South Dakota from a family band. During their time at AAE, it has become very evident that they are a closely connected group. Therefore, AAE is working on a situation that will keep the family together.
