Diego
Handsome Diego was originally part of a group of mustangs gathered by the USFS in New Mexico off the Jarita Mesa Wild Horse Territory in the El Rito Ranger District of the Carson National Forest. After being offered for adoption by the USFS several times and not being lucky enough to be chosen, Diego, along with herdmates Scout and Diesel, was taken to the Monty Roberts International Learning Center, where all three participated in the Center's wild horse gentling program. From there he came to AAE in late 2016 to continue his gentling and to learn about life as a newly-domesticated horse.
Diego is a gorgeous dark bay with reddish coloring around his muzzle and eyes. He has been haltered and leads, but he is still learning to trust. He will need a patient and committed partner to spend daily and consistent time with him to earn his trust and develop his confidence.
Diego is still growing and is maturing into a very handsome guy with nice conformation and beautiful movement. He gets along well with the other geldings and is quite playful. He just knows that any day now he will be the lucky one chosen to hop into the trailer and head to a forever home!
