Finnegan's Story
Finn was born at AAE shortly after his mom (Kai) arrived in late February 2014. Kai was part of a collaborative auction rescue effort in Fallon, NV that saved 31 horses from purchase by a slaughter buyer. Kai came to AAE in late February 2014.
Finn was cute as a button, and sweet as pie from the moment he hit the ground. He was faced with some serioius health issues shortly after birth, but thankfully, after 24/7 care and close monitoring, he recovered and blossomed into an amazingly soulful young man. He was also a lil trouble-maker from day one, snatching gloves from pockets and running off with a snicker! Much to everyone's dismay, Finn went out on adoption. It was bittersweet! About six months later, he was returned. He ended up back at AAE due to his affect on the girls he was living with. They all wanted to be with him, and they were going over or through fences, resulting in too many unwanted vet bills. His blonde locks and surfer dude looks were too much to handle. He was also an escape artist, going over a gate to chase the girls in the trailer down the road. Once back at AAE, he wooed the volunteers and continued his gamely behaviour, weaving his way into everyone's hearts....well, most everyone!
Finn is a social butterfly. He loves his human friends, and doesn't hesitate to seek attention. He is an extremely calm, laid back, and affectionate guy. He is thick and athletic, with lots of potential. Finn became a resident program horse, and he is a volunteer favorite. He introduces new volunteers to basic safety and handling, and he will be important to new programs at AAE as they evolve. He's been started under saddle, and he's an all around kind and gentle guy...with one exception. When it comes to his hooves, he can be impatient and take advantage of the kindest hearts in a toddler's spirit. He will stand quietly when he's knows he'll get grounded if he doesn't. So, his hooves need to be handled by those wiser than he! He's also a terror in confinement. He loves to play with hoses and take baths in his water, Anything in or around his stall or paddock is his toy. Gotta watch out for this dude.
He is current with vaccines, deworming, hoof and dental care.
