Kinsey's Story

Kinsey came to AAE after being picked up by law enforcement as a stray. Kinsey was a bit timid, though she haltered and loaded without issue when she was picked up by AAE. She was thin, and had a large untreated wound over her hind pastern.  She was not obviously lame. The wound was debrided by a veterinarian before coming to AAE.

Once at AAE, and after she was done with quarantine, Kinsey had her spa days:  dental and hoof care, vaccines, and deworming, and she got a microchip. Dr. Stolba re-examined her wound and was happy with her progress. Treatment and bandaging continued at AAE, and the wound healed. Kinsey recovered well, and her ground skills and confidence improved each day.

Kinsey is a sweet, willing lil' gal, and she seems honest and uncomplicated. She is easy going and easy to handle. She will be a fun project for an experienced person interested in developing a trusting and lifelong relationship with a young horse, while giving her time to mature and develop before starting her under saddle.

Kinsey is current with dental and hoof care, vaccines, and deworming, and she has a microchip. While at AAE, she's not shown any signs of lameness due to the wound over on her hind fetlock, and she appears to be making a great recovery.

Kinsey met her person, and she was adopted with her friend Monroe!

In general, there is a lot of activity around AAE including vehicle and foot traffic in and out of paddock/pasture areas, mucking with wheelbarrows, grooming and care activities, tractor and trailering, weekly farrier visits.  There are resident dogs, cats, goats, a pig, cows, and mini horses, as well as various wildlife including frequent turkeys, squirrels, rabbits, deer, coyote, and bobcats in and around paddock/pasture areas.  A portion of AAE is situated along a highway with high speed vehicles, trucks, and sirens.  Tractors are used in and around pasture/paddock areas, trucks deliver feed, and a squeeze is occasionally used for unloading hay.  Horses at AAE are accustomed to a more active environment as opposed to a quiet/sterile environment. Somed do well; others will do better in a more quiet environment.
