Lady Rose's Story

Lady Rose came to AAE with six other equine (Jake, Shay, Brantley, Sammy, Conway, and Twitty) after the passing of his elderly owner.  Due to owner's health conditions and physical limitations, this herd had not received adequate care for quite some time.  Lady Rose had not received hoof or dental care for quite a while.  She was shy and hesitant to trust humans.

Shortly after arrival, Lady Rose got much needed hoof and dental care.

Training/Experience Update: Lady Rose is mild mannered and easy going, but untrusting of humans.  She's slowly learning to trust and enjoy grooming and attention once she's haltered.  She needs a small space for haltering.  She has a loud bray around feeding times.  Lady Rose has been good with the farrier with her front hooves, but he work on the hinds.  Hinds have only been trimmed with sedation after her dental.

AAE has an active environment with daily volunteer activity, dogs, chickens, tractors, a nearby roadway, neighbors with gardeners and noisy gardening equipment, and more.  It seems there's always something going on, so the horses and donkeys get much exposure.  The horses and donkeys with no special needs live in a herd environment; while the older and special needs horses and donkeys typically live in a stall/paddock environment.

Lady Rose is current with hoof and dental care, vaccines and deworming, and she has a microchip in place.  Lady Rose is looking for a companion home.  She will need sedation for trimming hind hooves for now.
