Lexi's Story

Lexi came to AAE in October of 2009 from a feedlot/killpen in Fallon, NV.  In late Spring 2010, Lexi was restarted under saddle.  She was making tremendous progress until she went off feed and was showing symptoms of severe illness.  Within 36 hours, she was gone.  She contracted Actinobacillosis lignieresil, also known as wooden tongue.  The bacteria causes large abscesses and ulcers of the tongue, it becomes hard and swollen leading to difficulty eating.  It's seen primarily in cattle, but also horses, pigs, sheep, and dogs.  Needless to say, it was a horrible situation, and she declined extremely fast.  Lexi was our first loss at AAE.  She was a sweet gir
